Two Services in One Page

Service A — SSD Upgrade (Replaceable SSD models): for MacBooks 2009-2015 with removable SSDs. Increase storage from 128GB → 1TB or 2TB. Boost performance with modern NVMe drives.

Service B — SSD Data Recovery (Soldered SSD models): for MacBooks 2016+ where SSDs are soldered to the logic board. Recover data when SSD is failing or device is dead. Specialized chip-level work.

These are very different jobs — different tools, skills, pricing. We do both.

When You Need SSD Service

Storage feels cramped

Pre-2016 MacBook with 128/256GB — upgrade possible

Slow boot / app launches

Old SATA SSD bottleneck — NVMe upgrade noticeable

Disk errors / bad sectors

SSD wearing out, recovery before total failure

MacBook won’t boot

Recovery from soldered SSD via chip-level work

Liquid-damaged board, intact SSD

Data extraction possible even when board is dead

T2 / M-series device dead

Specialty hardware recovery for encrypted SSDs

SSD Upgrade vs Recovery — Two Different Services

Compatible Upgrade Models (Pre-2016)

  • MacBook Pro 13″/15″ (2009-2015) — PCIe / SATA SSD slots
  • MacBook Air 11″/13″ (2010-2015) — proprietary blade SSDs
  • iMac (2009-2015 various) — see iMac repair page

Recovery (2016+)

  • T2 (2018-2020 Intel) — SSD encrypted with hardware keys
  • Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3) — most integrated
  • Soldered SSDs require board repair to power surrounding circuit
  • 70-90% recovery rate depending on extent of damage

SSD Service Process

1

Free Diagnosis

Assess feasibility. For upgrades: check current SSD type and compatible upgrades. For recovery: estimate recovery probability honestly.

2

Quote

Upgrade: parts + labour + data migration cost. Recovery: probability assessment + cost range.

3

Lab Work

Upgrade (1-2 hr swap + 1-4 hr migration). Recovery: hardware repair to access SSD, then data extraction via Target Disk Mode or specialty tools.

4

Delivery

Upgrade: cloned SSD installed, data verified. Recovery: data delivered on external drive (you provide drive or we charge ₹2,000 for one).

SSD FAQ

Can I just buy an SSD and install myself?
For pre-2016 MacBooks, yes — relatively straightforward DIY if you’re comfortable. We sell the same compatible SSDs as a parts-only option (₹1,000 saved on labour). For data migration, recommend professional help to avoid data loss.
My MacBook is 2018 — can I upgrade storage?
No. 2016+ MacBooks have soldered SSDs that can’t be upgraded. The only path to more storage is buying a new MacBook with higher storage spec, or using external SSDs via Thunderbolt.
How long does SSD upgrade take?
1-2 hours for the swap. Data migration adds 1-4 hours depending on data volume.
Will I lose my data during upgrade?
No, if done properly. We clone your existing SSD before installation. As an extra safety, we recommend you run a Time Machine backup before bringing in the device.
How long does data recovery take?
Soft recovery: 4-8 hours. Hardware-required recovery: 24-72 hours. Severe cases: 5-7 days.
