Two Different Repair Categories
Category A — Physical Port Damage: The actual USB-C / MagSafe connector is damaged. Causes: bent pins, debris, water exposure, physical impact. Fix: port replacement (entire I/O board on most modern MacBooks) or careful cleaning.
Category B — Charging IC Failure: The chip on the logic board that manages charging has failed. Causes: power surges, defective adapters, liquid damage spreading from port to logic board. Fix: chip-level repair on logic board.
